I miss waking up and going to my neighborhood bakery for a freshly baked tyropita. I've been living in Holland for the past 8 years and unless I make my own pites and bread, I don't enjoy any of it here. When I go home to Athens, I eat more than I can handle in order to stock up. Thankfully, that is quite often :)
I have many Serbian friends and I have tried your pastries too. They are delicious!magdahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14367645154577817408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8168437460312909622.post-16670344670295476392015-08-04T21:01:46.642-04:002015-08-04T21:01:46.642-04:00Magda, thank you. Also I must say that every time I go to Greece, I am taken aback with the amount of goodies in Greek bakeries, and I always wonder who manages to eat all these breads and biscuits :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05525901019415679939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8168437460312909622.post-57886659976149228772015-08-03T11:22:01.816-04:002015-08-03T11:22:01.816-04:00I loved your post, once again about my country and...I loved your post, once again about my country and country's food. I laughed when I read about your search for the meaning of horta.:) One traditional Greek leafy green/weed (horto) is zohos. Zohos can't be found outside of Greece but what is close to its flavor is cavolo nero. Try that! Amaranth is a very common horto too! Beet leaves are mostly boiled along with the whole beetroot to prepare a beetroot salad.
Your rusks looks great! You did a great job making them yourself. Very few people make their own in Greece. It's so easy to buy them from every shop. The ntakos looks stunning. The most traditional of all Greek summer nibbles.magdahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14367645154577817408noreply@blogger.com
